I have a movie ...a documentary called MANSON. Basically, it's a documentary made shortly after the trial of Manson and the family. Whatever you're  opinion of Charlie and the Fmily is-this is a fascinating film, made shortly after the infamous events of the Tate-La Bianca Murders. A slice of American history that just won't go away.. I know Mojo has seen it ( p.s. thanX) any thoughts from anybody slse? I find the music really haunting...and the girls rival anything a cheap expliotation movie can conjure. The scary thing is..this is real.

The frightining thing is...these people don't seem insane..or mad...

When I was a little kid,my dad usta tell us kids if we wern't good, that he would send us off to live with Charlie's family. I was like 8 or so when this was news. The scene in the clip, where Manson is mugging for the news camera, sticking out his tounge and making weird faces, was a staple on the news.  Now I find it fascinating. Any thoughts on the film? Has anybody else seen it. Lawerence Merrick also did the expliotasion films MY BABY IS BLACK, and the near porno WHATEVER HAPPENED to COUNT DRACULA.  The movie won film awards though! Shortly after wards, he was found dead. OOOOOOOOiEEEEEEe!!!. I Think he did another movie called the BLACK ANGELS...about an all black biker gang.

I know that for some people,Manson is a taboo subject. Why?

Manson is one of those guys I idolized back in high school because he was able to manipulate others to do his dirty work for him. Sure, his plan of pushing African-Americans into a revolt against Whitey and then taking control of the amateur and leaderless black revolutionaries afterwards because, as Manson himself said, "Blacks only know how to pick cotton, they don't know anything about leadership and running a country" was incredibly stupid, but the man convinced others to kill for him and that always awed me.

Of course I learned later that hippies, like a lot of people, are relatively easy to manipulate into doing what you want them to do, provided you give them what they're missing out of life, so I wasn't so impressed. Oh yeah, not to mention all the really disturbing stuff that made Manson even more unlikable, like giving LSD to kids and engaging in all-ages orgies every night, which I learned from watching this docu too.

It's a startling thing to see and I had to keep reminding myself that this was real footage with the real Family and not just actors and actresses pretending to play as such. I agree all the way with RC on this one: it's haunting in it's own raw and realistic way and a definite recommendation for those who know where to find a copy... yeah, it seems that Brentwood or one of those other infamous budget DVD release companies out there decided to go ahead and publish the thing through discount bins in places like K-Mart (where my copy came from) without actually taking the time to make sure it was legal to do so. A subsequent lawsuit led to a recall (and likely destruction) of the remaining copies, so if you can find a copy for cheap, grab it up!

This is a documentary that I've been looking for, for a while now.  I've read about it in the past, and have seen it mentioned here on the board a few times but can't seem to find a copy.

Manson was well before my time, but I too find the events to be fascinating.  It's hard to believe that one man could have so much of a hold on others and their thoughts.  I'm sure the LSD helped quite a bit in that regard.

I recall when I was younger, watching a 20/20 piece about Manson.  One image from it haunted me immensely.  They were talking about Manson's artwork and they showed a painting he had done of a clown holding balloons.  The clown had a maniacal grin on his face and a swastika on his forehead.  Creeped the hell out of me at the time, and still does.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Evil grinning clowns will creep out 90% of the people in the country, let alone evil grinning NAZI clowns!  :buggedout:

Well,Squeeky Fromme went to prison for attempting to assasinate Pres. Gerald Ford,Sandra Good is STILL a Manson freak (!) and the other chick was arrested later on for attempting the robbery of a gun shop with a whole separate band of quasi-revolutionary nut-jobs...I think she got paroled since then, though.
