Here's a link to this months Halloween movies on TCM.

Last night they played:

Return of the Vampire
Curse of the Demon
Cat People
Leopard Man

They also showed the wonderful I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE [1943] - that one's well worth catching.  It was also nice to see CURSE OF THE DEMON again, though it's a pity they only showed the cut American version. . .

I just saw NIGHT OF THE DEMON (the complete version) and the edited CURSE OF THE DEMON.  Both versions are available on a single disc from Netflix.  Seems like the main thing that was cut was a scene where Dana Andrews visits the devil-worshipping family of the mental patient to get permission to put him under hypnosis.  Besides being a creepy scene in its own right, this helps remind the audience of the guy's existence, since he's only mentioned casually in conversation before.  Without this footage it must have been confusing when Dana suddenly starts hypnotizing the guy to start the movie's climax.  No reason to watch CURSE if NIGHT is available.

Next Friday night TCM is spotlighting William Castle with HOMICIDAL, STRAIGHT-JACKET, 13 GHOSTS and THE TINGLER.

Future directors are Browning and Corman.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Not only does it make the hypnotism a bit jarring, but it causes the film to inexplicably cut from morning (Dana Andrews had just finished breakfast) to that night, when Peggy Cummings is abducted by the diabolical Karswell.

Still a good film, but the NIGHT cut is definitely preferable.

It will be a good oportunity to see HOMICIDAL and STRAIGHT-JACKET which have both been on my long list.

Welcome to the forum wtffilm and Rev. Powell. Like your avatar Reverend Powell and the movie from which it comes.

i saw leopard man not too long ago.  It wasn't bad but not really a horror movie

Rev. Powell

Thanks Scott, I may have stayed a lurker forever except the avatar was too perfect for this forum not to share.

Isaac makes a good point.  I hadn't looked that far ahead in the schedule.  It probably would have been more appropriate to include two Corman Poe films instead of two horror comedies.
