I remember watching The Sons of Hercules on Friday nights as a kid.  They were Italian sword and sandal flicks cut down to an hour. Other than the theme song Hercules really isn't mentioned in them.

This one is the story of an arab king being assassinated  then his son and daughter imprisoned. The daughter escapes by jumping in the river.  Anthar (Kirk Morris) and his side kick Amiu the Mute are fishing (in what looks like big diapers) when the pricess comes floating along on a log.

They just get acquainted when a band of slave traders steal the princess. Not knowing who she is they sell her off to a rich sheik. Since Anthar has been on her trail the whole time, he and Amiu steal her back after causing much chaos.

After hooking up with some rebels, Anthar goes to break the Prince out .  He's successful, but he gets captured as the prince escapes.  Because of his rep the bad guys think Anthar should have an execution to remember, so they put him in the pen with a rhinoceros!  After wrestling the rhino for a while the calvary arrives and Anthar escapes from the pen after chunking one the guards in (the rhino don't like the guard much and squashes him). There's lots of mayhem with swords, fire, and archery.

Anthar must fight the head bad guy in a room full of mirrors, of course he wins, the princess jumps into his arms, and the embarrassed looking prince and Amiu close the door on their intimate moment.

Enjoy the theme music.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

The Burgomaster

I watched this a few months ago.  It's included in Mill Creek's WARRIORS 50 MOVIE PACK along with dozens of other (mostly Italian) Hercules, Samson, Goliath, etc., movies.  Loads of cheapo fun . . .
