Mortal Envelope

Caught the beginning of this one on Comedy Central the other night -didn't make it through the whole thing but the parts I did see made me go "wha?"

Ok, so this is the 2nd or 3rd (I'm not even sure) spinoff from the American Pie movies right?  I saw Band Camp, unfortunately, and wondered why the hell they made such a movie and why they feel they need to continue the travesty, and why the hell Jim's Dad keeps showing up making references to the first American Pie?

So lemmie get this straight - Band Camp and Naked Mile both center around a Stiffler relative, somehow missing the point that the first 3 American Pie movies didn't center around him at all.  Really, wasn't he just a secondary character reserved for irritating the main cast and benig used mostly for at least one major gross-out scene per movie?

The first American Pie movie was centered on 4 guys (none of which includes Stiffler) trying to get laid before graduation.  Sure Stiffler drank spoo, got peed on, ate dog sh!t, and had sexual relations in the dark with Jim's Grandma over the next three movies, but how the hell did he become a major draw to the point where his relatives get the spotlight?  Where the Hell did American Divorce go?

I think, at least in this one, it's Stiffler's cousin (as I think it was Stiffler's little brother in Band Camp) all trying to imitate the first Stiffler, as if we didn't hate him enough already, the filmmakers must have thought we'd love a clone of him so much more.

But this poor relative isn't living up to the Stiffler a***ole fame and name.  I'd say he should just accept that.  See, this kid has a problem - he has a nice girlfriend of two years and she won't give it up...until her "friends" convince her to put out before he leaves her.  So she agrees to do it, invites him over, but they are thwarted by her Dad's interruption just so the dude can hide in the dryer (!?), take a dump in there (!!!!!?), and bust out with pantyhose on his head just as her Dad was about to catch him.

She apparently doesn't mind the dryer shat and proposes that he should go to some college, run a naked mile, do whatever guilt free, and come back and be a normal couple, or something (riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight).  Anyway, when en route, she tries to call him but his more-Stiffler-like friend throws his cell phone out the window!  This is when I decided I could find something better to do, so I went outside and counted rain.

Anyone else make it through this tired and worn-out Komedy clencher?

I haven't seen naked mile but i did watch about half of the newest one, American Pie:Beta House. It actually sounds quite similar to the Naked Mile and i'm sure it is. The only redeeming qualites of these movies in my opinion would be all the gross out humor, which i actually find funny. But subtract the gross out humor and you're left with nothing.

I must agree with Mortal Envelope on this subject, HOW ARE STIFFLER'S RELATIVES GETTING MOVIES???  And to answer your question, Jim's dad keeps showing up because he makes everyone uncomfortable, and that is God's way of saying, "You sir, are p**sing me off," and obviously these kids don't get it.

Yes, salad.

I liked Band Camp, but have little to zero interest in Naked Mile or Beta House.  Stifler wasn't even the major character.  And as such, why does Jim's Dad keep showing up?  He knows the original Stifler, sure, but I doubt he knows his son's friend's family that well.

I love Eugene Levy and felt he was the best character in the original trilogy.  Good for him getting work, but seriously.  He can pick better movies than these crappy sequels/spinoffs.

Don't get too close, it's dark inside.

It seems like one of these American Pie direct-to-DVD movies comes out about every 3 months.  I've only seen the 1st 3 proper American Pie movies. Liked the 1st one a whole lot, was disappointed with the 2nd and hated the 3rd.

Yeah the first American Pie was decent enough; second was a let down and the third's only redeeming quality (besides the hot redhead) was that Stiffler actually had a minute amount of character development and learned not to be such an ass (or he at least learned to do something nice for a change).  It was still painful.  I always figured if they were going to spin off on a particular character it would have been either Jim the Pie-focker or maybe Tara Pepporoni Flop Reid, if anything.
