This story is unusual enough that it made the newspapers in that area, and it is true.

The man an illegal immigrant from Asia, put off going to the hospital, but the pain got so bad that, after two or three days, he finally saw a doctor,  and that's when they found the nail and removed it. They said if the man had put off going to the hospital any longer, he would have died. He'll live, but he'll also be deported as an illegal immigrant back to his home country in Asia.
