b-movies in music.

Listen to your favorite bands. Do they remind you of the movies that you watch? Mine do! Esspecialy the Misfits. I think Rob Zombie/White Zombie is influenced by b-movies as well. What do you think?

Yep, a lot of my favorite punk bands have b-movie references and/or themes in their songs. Misfits, Cramps, Guitar Wolf, Balzac, Nekromantix, Hellbillies, The Fiends, Forbidden Dimension....the list goes on and on. Horror host Zacherley has cut some pretty cool tunes over the years as well.

Also....with songs like 'Creature from the Black Leather Lagoon,' 'Human Fly,' and...well...every song they ever did-the CRAMPS!

Also some favorites...the Ghastly Ones,Screaming Lord Sutch,the Phantom Surfers,and the one and only...

also, the cramps, the misfits
but for some odd reason..everytime i watch any kind of apocolypse-themed movie, I always think of The Germs or TSOL

Yeah, that's how I got into the B-movie scene. White Zombie and the Misfits. Hell, even the Ramones reference B-movies in a couple of their songs. I think punk and to a lesser extent metal owes a great deal to B-movies. Even campy TV shows. At the end of a song (which name escapes me at the moment) the singer says "Your answer is non sequitur" from the Star Trek episode (and my personal favorite) "The Changeling".

I remember watching Boris Karloff's The Mummy and being floor when the female lead says "Do you have to open graves to find girls to fall in love with?". I didn't know where Zombie got that from...No internet in those days.

I was gonna say Screaming Lord Sutch, but I figured you would say him. He's pretty flippin' AWXSOME. Its just a b***h to find some of his good stuff...Itunes doesnt have stuff like "Dracula's Daughter" or "Monster in Black Tights" as well as a few others really good songs of his.

A friend of mine told me that Mike V. Got the name for his band, "The Virus", by looking thru some magazine that listed a bunch of b-movies.

As soon as I seen this thread title, I automatically thought of the Misfits, one of my favorite punk bands from that era. Teenagers from Mars, Green Hell, Skulls, American Nightmare, and many others.

White Zombie is one of my, if not most, favorite bands of all time. Not only does their music rock and have a dancing groove to it, its heavily inspired by B-movies.

Lets not forget Blue Oyster Cult with many of their songs.

I was watching a show on Judas Priest the other day and Rob Halford was talking about how he is heavily inspired by science fiction films and writings.

How could I forget: Alice Cooper...many of their songs and aspects of their stage show were inspired by b-movies: Teenage Frankenstein, It's Flash, Killer, Steven, King of the Silver Screen, and many many more that I am sure I'm forgetting.

It does seem that punk rock is the main genre that takes a lot from b-movies. I've been a punk fan for a long time now, and I'll always seeing references. One of my favorite ska / punk bands, Choking Victim (now defunct...), love to reference bad kung fu flicks. Some films actually revel in the punk love of the films. Watch Repo Man for a great example of such a mix.

Metal certainly owes a bit to the films as well. Hell, GWAR is a great example.

I just realized that my favorite band off all time, "The Aquabats!", have a few songs that may have been b-movie influenced. Songs like "Martian Girl", "The Cat With 2 Heads", and "Mechanical Ape!".

Mechanical Ape! might even be a refrance to "King Kong Escapes".

BlLACK SABBATH!-hell, Ozzy even stated himself that the bands name came from an old horror film -Mario Bava's BLACK SABBATH with Boris Karloff!
