I don't think it had a face.
It's been a while since I've watched it but I think only gooey liquid popped up...
It may be a prop that was made but never actually used in the film.

I own the DVD so I'll have to pop it in and see for sure.

EDIT:  I just watched that scene and it does appear to be that prop.
