Wasn't quite sure where to post this.  Anyway.

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story stars John C. Reilly as Dewey Cox, a musician who fathers 22 kids, 14 step kids, gets addicted to every drug known to man, and gets married 3 times.  Judd Apatow produces it, and based off this, looks downright hilarious, to me at least.

Anyone else seeing it?

They've got a GIANT stand up of the theatrical poster art up in one of the local theaters near where I live.  It's just this huge thing of a shirtless John C. Reily, too funny.

The movie looks promising and hopefully very funny.

I am hoping it is funny.  John C. Reilly is one of my favorite actors and very underrated in my opinion.  He's funny too, but I guess has the stigma of people remembering him in dramas.

Plus I'm hoping with Apatow's involvement, it turns out well.  He seems to be on a hot streak over the past couple of years.

I'm really expecting a rock and roll version of Taladega Nights out of this without Will Ferrel and that's not necessarily a  bad thing.  I love the ads and Jack White as Elvis looks really, really funny.  John C. Reilly is also pretty funny.  He was involved with the Mr. Show crowd for a while and is the guy in the Sasquatch suit in the Tenacious D Sasquatch episode.

Also, Jenna Fisher is cute as hell.

I haven't seen it yet, but the soundtrack music is amazingly good.

They even got Van Dyke Parks to do the arrangement for Dewey Cox's "Brian Wilson phase". As far as song-parody goes, it's easily on the same level as The Rutles or Spinal Tap.

If the movie is as great as the music, it ought to be a real treat.

Yeah.

Jack Black's in this too.  Playing one of the Beatles.

Not to mention Dr. Steve Brule on "Tim And Eric's Awesome Show...Great Job!"

I saw this one the other day.  Probably one of the better (and actually funny in parts) spoofs that have come out in a long time.  Reilly has always been one of my favorite "that guy" actors and really makes this film enjoyable.  Its one of those films you can quote with a buddy after watching it.  Its by far no Spinal Tap but its fun.

I watched it last week.  I really like Reilly's work but this one was a dud for me.  It was much too long, and not that funny.  6/10

I liked the fact that he's 45 years old, but he's playing a 14 year old.  And Tim Meadows offering him the drugs each time was hilarious.  "It's marijuana man.  It's the cheapest drug known to man and you don't get addicted.  You don't want this man.  It's a lot of fun."

*** out of ****.

Not the best I've ever seen but still really funny.  But if they hadn't had John C. Reily in the titel role the movie would just not have worked at all and he's the reason why it worked as well as it did.

BTW, I thought that the shorter theatrical cut was superior to the longer extended cut.

I haven't seen the extended cut yet.  Figured I'd watch it if I get some time.

I liked the scene with the Beatles.
