The post in the "Strage News" board prompted me... A movie, 1970's about ant colonies that show more intelligence than they should.  At one point they form circles on circuit boards and short out electical equipment.  It got good rotation in Up All Night in the 80's.  Its nota gaint ant movie, just the small kind.

Sounds like "Phase IV" with the highly intelligent ants that also built ant skyscrapers.  They were so powerful they could chew through wood and metal in a few seconds.  I have the VHS of this, and have been waiting patiently for a DVD release for years.

Patiently, I tell you.

Y'know, I'm not quite sold.   It doesn't "seem" right, but reading the Wikipedia and IMDB information it might the right movie.  I just don't remember enough.
Thanks!

The only other one that comes to mind is "Ants" or "It Happened At Lakeside Manor" which is about a bunch of ants that invade a new resort area.  Their sting causes paralysis and death.

The ants in "Phase IV" are the smart ones.  They are trying to get at the scientists who are in a super-modern dome shelter.  I haven't watched it in years, but your mention of them shorting out the circuits in the dome's systems sparked a brain cell.

I'll go with Phase IV then, the scientists are the clincher.   "It Happened At Lakewood Manor" is even less of a fit.

Hey Andrew, it was announced at DVD Drive-in not too long ago that Legend Films got the DVD distribution rights for a bunch of Paramount cult/horror films. Among them is "Phase IV." You can view the (not very impressive) cover art for "Phase IV" and all the other films HERE. While this is good news, there still isn't a street date.  :bluesad:

I had seen about "Student Bodies" coming out.  Didn't realize it was part of the same deal.  I also see "The Deadly Bees" and, even better, "ZPG" in there.  Legend Films has done a good job with other releases, so I will have this to look forward to.

PHASE IV...wow....I saw that one in the theater way back when...I havn't thought about that movie in years....! That was a VERY serious movie....no campy sci-fi there! Good film. (Why are serious movies called films:question:)

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

You know, I've never seen "Matinee," but after watching this faux "Mant" trailer (it has the authentic feel of a William Castle production, no?) I must seek out this movie! Seems like it would make a great double feature with "Popcorn."  Thanks for posting that Raffine!  :teddyr: Karma for you!
