mid 1980s devil possesion movie

i dont think this is dario argentos "the church". maybe it is, anyway; all i can remember is this may have been a bit like 967 evil, i think there was a weak and nerdy kid who somehow became possessed or gained some kind of demonic powers. the only part i can remember is towards the end when he is flying through a church holding a sword. as he is floating down the aisle he whacks a few people with the sword either decapitating them or causing them to spray blood out of there necks. while this is happening all hell is breaking loose and there are lots of pigs running wildly thru the church. thats about all i can remember, does anybody have any idea what this is? i saw it around 1986 or 1987, im not sure if thats when it was released.
