I haven't found many people who liked "Dragonslayer" if they have even heard of it.  I saw it in an early preview one summer and thought it was the coolest fantasy movie I'd seen because they FINALLY did not sugar-coat everything.  It was dirty and nasty and bloody and there was a tone that the hero would not survive.  I can't believe I don't have this in my collection.

Psycho Circus

I like Dragonslayer alot, have done since being a small kid. I did watch it again recently and didn't realise how dark it was. As Java stated, there's not really much in the way of the viewer thinking Galen would be successful in his quest. There's nothing heroic or remotely confident about him in any way. Also, weird watching it years ago, then seeing Peter MacNicol in Ally McBeal.

Lucifer Rising.  Kenneth Anger has always advocated taking copious amounts of drugs before filming.  It shows.  His are some very evil/peculiar/WTF films that I'm shocked to discover aren't talked about very much in this forum.

FW Murnau's original Nosferatu, if you've never seen it.  Try to find the version with the Mt. Alto soundtrack.  Murnau was a coke and absinthe freak for a bit in Berlin.

LUCIFER RISING: Worthless trivia dept: Bobby Beausoleil, a member of the infamous Manson Family, appears in the film as Satan.
FW Murnau: Another good trippy film by Murnau is FAUST (1926)...
