The Albuquerque Public Schools has began a policy where they will remove a student from the lunchline and give them a cheese sandwich if they have outstanding lunch debt. Apparently with the economy in the gutter, the school system has an increase in the amount of students who's parents either can't pay or just won't pay for the child's lunch. So these children are given a cheese sandwich and some milk instead of the meal being served.

The good part about this is at least hey are giving the kids something to eat. I know some school systems that will make a kid go hungry if they don't have any money to pay for lunch.

The bad part is they are embarrassing the children. It's not their fault that their parents can't pay or in some cases refuse to pay. Also for the parents that can't afford to pay, I feel pity as well cause you know it's got to be heartbreaking to know they can't even pay for a school lunch for their kids. For them I hope they get the financial help they need.

As for the parents who just refuse to pay, get off your butt and buy your kid's lunch you deadbeat.
