Movie with a world that's being "eaten/engulfed/gradually erased"

WeylandYutani

This is another movie I can just remember the final scene from.

The final scene shows an overview of a landscape gradually being "eaten by the void" - it's edges
are disappearing, and it's getting smaller and smaller.

It is a live action Sci-Fi film, and I have some impression that it maybe was Russian?
(Not too sure about the Russian part.)

I think the movie takes place on another world, and for some reason it is disappearing.

I think there might have been some sort of a castle in the landscape.

Any ideas?

Most likely The Neverending Story.

Skip to around 3:00.  The Nothing devours the world, then Atreyu and Falkor fly around in space until they get to the castle, which is all that remains of the world.

The entire movie is available on youtube.
Kneel before Dr. Hell, the ruler of this world!

WeylandYutani

Nope - not it.

I forgot to mention that the world is shown from a bird's-eye view, when the "engulfing" takes part.
(Let's say some miles away).

I think the tone of the movie was rather drama/serious - it was not a movie for kids.

Only thing I can think of is the Stephen King movie "The Langoliers"

A group of people on an airplane slip through a door in time to find out that the past is actually eaten by creatures that look like mutant pac-men.  They get the plane to fly away just before the world falls apart due to the langoliers eating habits.

Do you have an idea when the movie was made?  That might help.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

Mofo Rising

What did the void look like? Both The Neverending Story and The Langoliers had different types of voids.

The only thing your description reminds me of is the Russian movie Solaris, but that doesn't end in a void, just some guy !SPOILER! finding out he's trapped on a different planet.

Skip ahead to the five minute mark to see the end.

Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

WeylandYutani

Yess! That's it!
It has to be the Russian Solaris!

What I remembered as a void was in fact just ocean/water.
The castle was a mere house.

The view of the house at the 5 minute mark convinced me.

Thanks!

This case is ke-loooosed!

Now, if just someone recognizes the "shrinking teddybear movie" I'll be a happy camper...

Wow, I first thought of SOLYARIS but dismissed it as not matching well enough (because, as you can see, there's actually no melting world or castle).  Next time I'll trust my first instinct.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...
