Last night I watched TERROR CREATURES from the GRAVE-an old b/w horror film featuring the lovley and mysterious Barbra Steele. The film is very atmospheric, and very gothic. The Plaque, ghosts, the walking dead.....GREAT cineamatography;(a semi colon!),But the highlight, here is Barbra Steele. You get shots of her half nakid-biting herself while having sex-and dying-in spectacular fasion. A great film!

Miss Steele-in my opinion-is the greatest horror film actress that ever lived.
BLACK SUNDAY. The GHOST.NIGHTMARE CASTLE ,the LONG HAIR OF DEATH,the PIT AND THE PENDULIM-up to SHIVERS,PIRANHA,and SILENT SCREAM. Only to name a few.

Her early films were very gothic in nature...and modern (for there time.) Scary stuff.

I'll second that RC, Barbara is something else. BLACK SUNDAY is probably one of the most gothic films ever made. Excellent film all around.

I've been meaning to watch TERROR CREATURES... as its been sitting on my hard drive for a couple of weeks now. I found it on archive.org which has quite a few public domain films that are worthwhile. I'll probably end up watching this one tonight.

Barbra Steele ALWAYS gets what's comining to her,or her vengence! In her films!  :teddyr:

I liked her  in Karloff's last English speaking film-(not his mexi-horrors) in the CRIMSON CULT! She was green! I recall seeing this film about 1:AM in 1972  on a uhf channel on tv! I was impressed!

A story, true: When I was a little kid,in 1969,me and my brother Mike and my Dad watched the PIT AND THE PENDULUM on TV. It scared the sh!t outta me. (You must remember-this was before films relied on excessive gore for shocks). Well, one night.we had just got done watching the film-and my mean-a$$ brother pushes me into an unused storage room in the house (we lived in an old Indiana farmhouse) and shouts-"NOBODY WILL EVER ENTER THIS ROOM AGAIN."

A feeling I willl NEVER forget-because Barba Steele was dead in there!  :buggedout:

I like Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Dracula movies, Hammer films, what other movies do you recommend? I will check out CRIMSON CULT though.

Allhallowsday

BARBARA STEELE has haunted my dreams since the first time I watched my favorite of all the Italian Horrors: CASTLE OF BLOOD (aka DANZA MACABRE 1964)

Trevor

RC, I have a DVD copy of Nightmare Castle in my collection. Great film and Ms Steele is great in it, but I have a question:

"Who the &^%$#@&*() put the print through a meat grinder before they authored the DVD?" Yikes.  :buggedout: :buggedout:

You should see some of my copies of films I got through Sinister Cinema-color films that have faded to a pale pink-scratches-skips-but somehow this enhances it's grindhouse/drive in charm....for me,at least. Watching a faded scratchy print of-say-TNT JACKSON, or BEAST of BLOOD...on a rainy Saterday afternoon....joy.
