As many of you know, I lost my Dad last year in May but he was, along with my Mom, the person who introduced me to film when I was seven. They had to drag me kicking and screaming (because I didn't want to go in) into a place they called The Cinema ~ which made me go  :buggedout: and then they had to drag me kicking and screaming out when the film was over because I didn't want to leave.  :teddyr:

Herewith some of my Dad's thoughts on certain films:

High Noon: "This isn't a western, son: it's a political thriller."

Death Wish: "There's more bangs in this film that go on in a whorehouse."  :teddyr:

Unforgiven: [Reading the credits] "Who the hell are Sergio and Don, son?"  :teddyr:

Jaws: [when the shark pops out to say hello] "WTF was that?"  :teddyr:

We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

He was and still is ~ he wasn't computer literate but he would have loved this site and all of you on it.

When I went to the premiere of the SA film White Wedding in Cape Town in March, he would have been one of the audience members standing up and applauding that film: a new dawn for the SA film industry.
