Also, I really would if it were a film I could only legally see by renting it online.  Something really fun and obscure...

I would be interested if the movie they streamed had the same DVD-like qualities such as chapter selection, subtitle options, audio track options and also had the numerous special features I usually shop for in my rental selection.

Nope. There's a chapter forward/back button on the player, but no chapter selection menu like you get on a DVD.

But what I really miss are the DVD extras. They're often crap, but I like to check out my extras when I have a DVD. And sometimes they're pretty cool.

I've got an extra computer hooked up to the TV, so it would work fine for me. Quite a handy thing. Besides allowing the kid to play educational games comfortably in the rec room, it gets news and weather, plays my MP3s and DVDs, and makes Rifftrax much easier to enjoy. Just another unwanted machine somebody gave me. A bit more RAM, a video card, a Linux OS and a cheap remote control, and it's all ready for movies on demand.

Yeah.  The thing these days is you can put together a MiniITX or similar box for like $200.  It'll play DVDs and be region free, play any media you download, older games, etc.

Newer video cards also have HDMI, so connecting newer computer to HDTVs is incredibly easy.

the only reason i would is if they had every movie ever made on amazon since tv doesnt, even then i could probably buy it online anyways and watch it at home. They never have the good movies on tv anymore, its all turning to crap =(
