the only print I've ever seen of this hicksploitation classic was abysmal.  I STILL gave it 5/5.  I'd imagine TCM has a much clearer print.  don't miss it.

 it's a really good movie, not just some critically acclaimed thing you are supposed to see. I woudn't have bothered posting about it if that was the case.

here's a review I wrote quite a while back

"the bad news is this is a terrible print. Far more obscure titles have been given generous DVD packages. This has no extras and , again, it's quite the lousy print. The film is great however. Imagine Stephen King gets pulled over while driving through the south. The cop gives him a big ticket. When he gets to his hotel room, King writes this: a largely unfair vicious obsessive and pyschological deconstruction of a town of cartoon character rednecks. Poor pretty eddie himself looks sort of like a meth addict Tom Brady and his older fat wife, the great Shelley Winters, has no level of psychological degradation she won't sink to in worshipping him. I have seen a couple 4 or so star movies lately and have been hesitant to give 5. I'm glad i held out because this is the real deal. Slim Pickens from Dr Stranglove is in it, as is Lurch from the Addams family. a Hicksploitation classic. Which is to say: a little better than "fight for your life", the only other one I've seen."

The newest 42nd Street Forever trailer collection has this one in it, under the title "Redneck County Rape".  It looks like sleazy fun.
