I used to love the whimsical, silly TV series of the same name back in the 70's, so I thought a goofy send-up of it would be fun fare for my wife and I on a Friday night.

I was wrong.

Boy, was I wrong.

I was really, really wrong.

I was "two plus two equals seven" wrong!!

I was picking the "Texas Rangers for the World Series" wrong!!

I was "nominating Britney Spears for Mommy of the Year" wrong!!!!!!

First of all, the whole thing was CRUDE.  Now, I am no prude, but when crude humor isn't funny, it just becomes irritating after awhile.  Secondly, it was DUMB!  The plotline made no sense whatsoever.  Third, the characters were irritating and unlikable.  Even the little ape-man Chaka was so tiresome I wanted a dino to eat him.  And when a dino DID eat Will Ferrell, I got my hopes up . . .  only to have them crushed.

This movie is bad in all the wrong ways.  Avoid it like it was a highly disfiguring genital wart.

At what point did the terms "Will Farrell" and "fun to watch" get matched in your brain?  The previews were enough to make a person give up the desire to be in the human race.

But the original Holly was supposed to be in it.  Did you at least recognize her? Or did they ultimately cut her part?

Sorry Indy, we assumed you knew not to see it.  You know, like look both ways before crossing the road, don't jump off the roof, don't go to a will Farrell remake, etc.
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

Didn't warn you because I didn't think it was THAT bad...    Certainly the worst film I watched in a theater this year, but I was never really squirming in my seat wanting to leave.  I saw a LOT worse movies on DVD this year.  The jokes failed for the most part, but honestly, I was never bored.  I kind of liked the crazy little surprises too, like the musical number and the giant crab.  I gave it 2/5.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

You were late with your "why didn't somebody warn me" payments...  :twirl:

Didn't we send you around to rough him up when he was late?  Circus, are we gonna have to send Vinnie to talk to YOU about your job performance?

I recall reading an interview with Wesley Eure (the original Will Marshall) about the time the movie came out. He and Kathy 'Holly' Coleman filmed a scene for the remake but it was ultimately cut.

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

the part that offended me most about this film was the advertising was aimed at kids

this is not a kids movie

Probably so they could leave in another scene of Will Ferrell yukking it up for the camera.  Oh well....

I have very fond memories of the ol' show. Stop-motion animated dinos on Saturday morning! The melodramatic acting was a bit much even then, but many of the episodes actually have excellent scripts by scifi heavy weights like Larry Niven, Theodore Sturgeon, and DC Fontana. There's even a script by Walter "Chekov" Koenig!

Needless to say, I've avoided the Will Ferrell movie like a Sleestak avoids the sun.

Were the trailers not warning enough?

When I heard about this movie, there was about a 10% chance that I'd end up seeing it.  After I saw the trailer, this 10% quickly dropped to 0%.
