Just out of curiosity, has any of my fellow brethren here had a vasectomy?  I'm definitely considering it but after watching videos on youtube I'm rather perturbed by the idea.  There seems to be a new scapel-less method out there.    Is it worth it?  Is it a long recovery time?

We're debating it too.  For me, not you Burgo, so it'll be interesting to see what develops.

My little guy gets so little use that I don't even need to consider this.

My dad got that done some time after I was born.  After what I went through last year, I don't think I could go through with it.  Getting a syringe in my sack was not something I enjoyed.

I had this done 10 years ago. It took me about a week to recover from it. It does hurt a bit the first couple of days after having it done but it's no where near as painful as being kicked in the nuts. Also have some ice packs handy or bags of frozen veggies because there will be some swelling(not where you would want it either).
Afterwards you need to take precautions for the first month or so because you can still have some swimmers laying in wait. You will need to donate a sample to your doctor's office or a lab to be tested to make sure you are free of them before you go without birth control.
If you are not wanting any more children and are sick of buying methods of birth control, then it is worth it.
I would not advise it for those under 30 who think they don't want kids because you might change your mind later. Also would not advise it for those not in a long term relationship, think that doing so will increase they amount of sex they are getting, or any reason other than wanting to make a permenant removal of any chance of fathering more children.
If your reason is you don't want any more kids and you have discussed this with your partner and they agree they don't want any more kids either, then it is the easiest form of sterlization and is worth going through.

I watched the scaple-less procedure on youtube.  Don't know, kind of seems minor but the seem to puncture a hole in your goody bag.  I'd need to be numbed up a bit.

Had it done 20 years ago, the most important thing is to go home and immediately apply ice.  You should be healed up in about a week, then go back in 6 weeks and have your semen checked for sperm.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.
