I'm somewhat interested in seeing this, but the cat scene is what's stopping me, so many people seem to be pointing to it being fake and real. Of those who have seen it here, what did they think?

The cat scene sure looked real to me when I saw it; I believe it was.  I rather thought it was a good movie regardless.

About 17 years ago I had this and Part II on imported VHS tapes.  Oddly enough, I don't remember the cat scene.

As anyone might, I get really sensitive about it, not to mention, as my cat was killed by bastard kids and a dog they had set loose on it years ago, so I wonder how I'd take it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was real, in a recent interview I read, the director shied away from talking about the cat scene, as he's no doubt seen enough controversy over it, but I imagine he didn't want to delve into it anymore because it may have been real and people would have obviously reacted worse.

I like cats.  But I also understand that the movie is nearly 25 years old, and they certainly won't get away with filming that s**t nowadays.  It's tough to watch, sure, but I for one feel better about that scene looking at it in this light.
