BRIDE OF THE GORILLA
"A fun little picture mixing elements of psychological horror and supernaturalism, with respectable performances by a fading star (Chaney) and a rising one (Burr). Plus, it's got a gorilla, which is what we're really all here for, isn't it? Apes make everything better. Or more terrifying. I forget which."

CASE 39
"This film is comparable to being locked in a zoo's monkey house. There's a lot of screeching and a lot of crap. It was actually filmed in 2006, and languished in a tin can (though sadly, not long enough for the film nitrate to rot away) until the success of ORPHAN, a fairly similar film, caused the studio execs release it."

THE NINTH GATE Review by Dan
"It's good to see Johnny Depp break out of his Tim Burton, squealing tween fan-girl, gaunt-and-pallid stereotype. Behind that vapid idol that so many Goths hold up like a Golden Calf at the base of Mt. Sinai lies a fantastic, versatile actor."

THE HOST
"The size of the monster is a refreshing change of pace from the 20-30 story kaiju I'm used to -- being roughly the size of a tractor trailer, it is large enough to toss around vehicles and cause some serious damage, while still small enough to menace the human cast on a personal level."

THE WOLF MAN
"Lawrence Talbot's just an average guy who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and gets dragged into events he cannot control or escape from. Unlike Dracula or Im-ho-tep, his monstrosity is not the price of his sins, nor was he born into it, as was the Creature or Frankenstein's creation. He struggles against this dark force inside him, a struggle that ultimately proves to be in vain -- he can't control the beast, and it is only in death that he's released from it's grip."

DERANGED
"The special effects are the work of make-up artist supreme Tom Savini, who is perhaps best known for his work on FRIDAY THE 13TH and DAWN OF THE DEAD. DERANGED represents some of Savini's earliest special effects/make-up work, and already his gory genius can be recognized."

GRIZZLY RAGE Review by Dan
"I refuse to refer to any of the pathetic douchebags who populate this movie by their given names, because that might humanize them. There are only four, so there's Bucket-Hat-Douche, Bandanna-Douche, Sourpuss-Douche, and the otherwise lovely only woman on the trip, Assless-McGee."

MOTEL HELL
"Though initially conceived as a serious horror film, its low budget and general campiness causes it to come off more as a satire or parody of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. On the other hand, the final "reveal" of Farmer Vincent's Fritters containing preservatives feels like the punchline of a joke woven through the entire script."

Congratulations!  It's amazing how quickly you have hit two-hundred, but looking at your steady series of updates it's easy to see how.  I hope to see 200 more!

Thanks Andrew! Not having a social life certainly helps with the updating, as does having an assistant.
