80-90s film about aliens

hi, i'm trying to find the name of this movie i watched as a kid, i think it's a movie about aliens. there's this guy protecting an alien girl from some other alien hunter. the aliens have this weakness to something (like light or sound?) that humans are immune to. i remember two scenes: first is the alien girl putting her hand on a (car?) window when she's remembering/communicating with someone dear to her, the other is at the end (?) of the movie, showing the guy waking up from nightmares (ala ripley's alien nightmares). my description might be wrong though cause it's all fuzzy.

i think it's an 80 - early 90s film, but i'm not sure. really appreciate the help.

hi, i checked the synopsis and movie stills from the 1975 movie, the 1978 sequel and the 1995 remake, and i'm afraid these are not the movie on my mind. sorry i'm not able to offer more details - it's extremely vague. i'm pretty sure it's not a family movie like say, mac and me or flight of the navigator though, because in my memory, i sort of "grouped" this film with lifeforce and xtro, two other films i watched at around the same time, if you know what i mean. thanks anyway!
