The Burgomaster

Here's another one I bought from Cinema de Bizarre.

I really wanted to like this movie, but it ended up being pretty ordinary.  Cleopatra Wong is a martial arts expert and Interpol agent.  She's sent on a mission to break up a gang of counterfeiters whose bogus bills are so realistic they could make countries lose confidence in their currency and send the world into financial turmoil.  Cleo's mission takes her back and forth between the Philippines, Singapore, and Hong Kong.  She ends up discovering a monastery that's actually a front for the counterfeiting operation.  A long martial arts and gun battle ensues in the outrageous climax.

At one point, Cleo is captured by the bad guys and brought to their leader's house.  He tells her he must kill her because, "You're not supposed to see me . . . or this place."  (Then why the heck did he bring her there?)

The print is very disorienting because the dubbed soundtrack is about 3 seconds ahead of the visuals.  So, you often see someone's mouth moving and no voice is coming out . . . or ANOTHER character's voice is coming out (especially funny when there's a guy on screen with a woman's dubbed voice on the soundtrack or vice-versa).  There are also plenty of times when you see someone holding a rifle or machine gun and you hear it firing about 3 seconds before the person aims it and pulls the trigger.  Same with the martial arts fights . . . you hear the punches and kicks before the characters even start to move.

On second thought, after reading my comments above, this sounds like a great / hilarious movie.  Maybe it should be in the "Good Movies" section.
