The Burgomaster

I bought this as part of a Warner Brothers cult classics 3 pack.

This is one of the worst airplane thrillers ever made . . . and Irwin Allen wasn't even responsible for it!

What makes it so bad:

* Typical disaster movie cast: Charlton Heston, Claude Akins, James Brolin, Walter Pidgeon, Rosie Grier, Susan Dey, and even Nicholas Hammond (TV's Spider-Man!)

* Every possible cliche: tough-guy pilot; romance gone bad; passenger (Mariette Hartley!) giving birth; U.S. Senator on board; bad weather conditions at the airport . . .

* The hijacker manages to bring a pistol, grenades, a sub-machine gun, and a detonator on board in his carry-on bag

Ooooooh, this is bad . . .
"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

why am I going to put this on my queue?  but I am.    great title.

one of the lesser fall outs from 9/11 is that there are not many hijackings anymore.  no one is going to sit and be quiet when they thnk they are going to be killed anyway.

that picture of the girl on the swing is dope

I LOVE this stuff!  I was weaned on this "mass transit in peril" genre
I put it in league with THE PRESIDENT'S PLANE IS MISSING and DISASTER ON THE COASTLINER!

It's great to see those lobby cards, too.  Especially this one...

which makes it look more like of one of those "Tegn" Danish softie sex-comedies!   :bouncegiggle:
That's my driver's license picture....I hate that picture!"

Zebra 3

Another Charlton Heston disaster classic, and don't forget the Cold War twist at the end.

Ah, the glorious seventies.
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.
