Hi
We all have them, you know that day at work when you can,t help but wait until it,s the end of your shift, but strangely the day seems to last three hours longer than usual.

Most of you guys will know that i am a HeadTeacher at a Special Needs School.
Like most things Education has Governing body,s that control it, the Education body,s in UK are L.E.A. (LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY)  and OFSTED:.

Several years ago the Government came up with a new :buzz; word, "Inclusion"
this was the answer to the increasing problem of educating disabled children in Special Needs Schools(in other words it was a way to save money)

My local l.e.a. with ofsted have been trying for several months to place one of my pupils in a mainstream school: AINT GOING TO HAPPEN:.I  have no problems with disabled children being educated in mainstream schools as long as the child will have the necessary teachers, equipment available to allow them to flourish, but all these "SUITS"are concerned about is cost effective education. No amount of money is worth more than a child's well being, I have battled these leaches for over 3 months now and they informed me (by email) that the child will be sent to a mainstream school next week. This has really p**sed me off and i am deeply upset for the child and his parents ,i feel i have let them down badly, today has been a really s**t day for me at work, have you guys ever had a really crap day at work?

zombie no.one

my mother has worked with pre-school special needs children for years (I'm in the UK too) and keeps telling me stories of councils trying to cut back by sending children who clearly aren't suitable for 'normal' school, to normal schools. I don't know the extent of your involvement into each individual case, but if the government is dictating where these kids go, then it's not really your fault is it? So you shouldn't really feel personally responsible, even though it's a crap situation. just my 2 cents (2 pence I mean)
