Star Wars: The Phantom Menace coming to theatres in 3D

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (March 3, 2011) – Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox announced today that the 3D theatrical launch of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace now has an official release date – February 10, 2012....

So, we take the worst Star Wars movie, give it a cheesy gimmicky Hollywood fad, and re-release it in theatres for a while, and hope that people support the idea?  Why George Lucas?  WHY?

A whole new set of DVD's and Blu rays will shortly be released - including the special edition with bonus interview, and the collectors edition with plastic toy.

Oh crap, I hadn't even thought as far as Jar Jar flailing about in 3D. I was still wondering if 3D would make the podrace exciting, instead of.. you know... long and tiresome.

I personally like the pod race, but then again, I'm not like any of you guys.  I actually like the film.

However, I don't see the point in making this or any of the films in 3D.  If you are going the 3D route, I would pefer if the movie was made with 3D in mind.  Otherwise, it doesn't always look good.  Remember The Last Airbender?

But I might still check this out in theaters, I shall Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith in theaters, so I might like seeing this.

Finally, if George Lucas ever wanted to rerelease a movie that he worked on in theaters once again, why not try getting Twice Upon A Time?  That be cool, but then again the rights to that movie...
