Rebirth of Mothra 3 is actually....enjoyable!

I finally checked out Hulu and they have all three films there, dubbed.

The first one was really mediocre. Second one added more kids, bumbling badguys, and sucked. I dreaded the third one would add more kids and lame humor and yet another environmental message to smash over the viewer's head. Along with more boring action consisted of nothing but explosions.

But this one, no, it's actually quite good.

The first two had very formulaic plots. A monster comes out, unleashed by humans and the third evil twin of Mothra's guardian. Mothra goes to fight the monster, loses. The battle drags on while the human kid characters do some stupid stuff. Mothra gets a convenient upgrade and then kicks the bad monster's butt. Along the way there's so much action that it becomes dull.

This one, it has a single older kid, lots of back ground kids, and Mothra does get another upgrade. Only this time there's less humor, the human characters and twins are separated and actually help. Even a little character development with the third twin where for once she doesn't have anything to do with King Ghidorah. There's even a little sense of urgency in the film and no environmental message. Thank god.

Speaking of which the Ghidorah costumes are quite amazing in this one. They get plenty of action and for once the fights are segmented and for once they seem to put some thought into the fights.

Never seen the Rebirth of Mothra films? Skip the first two and just check out this one. I was very very surprised.

RoM 3 is the only one I truly enjoyed.  It was a blast!

I was never really a Mothra fan... but I'll check this out.

Edit. Wait a min! Mothra DIED in Final Wars. Gigan killed her.

How do these Toho Monsters keep coming back to life? jk

Thanks, I was avoiding these for the reasons you gave. I'll check out #3.

No promise you'll find it as good as I did. I mean I came off watching the first two horrible movies.

Either way, you must remember: could be worse. Much worse.
