Does 3-D hurt your eyes?

Those red and blue glasses suck! I tried to watch the 3-D version of "Friday the 13th part 3" and it gave me a headache, so I switched to the the 2-D version. I was too young to see it in 3-D at the movies, so at first I was excited about the disc having a 3-D feature, but like I said, headache. Still it's my second favorite "Friday the 13th."

I saw it in 3-D in the movies and the 3-D effects were great.  The red / green method on the DVD really screws it up.

The 3D movies I've seen of late seem to work OK ad I haven't had any bad reactions - other than the ticket cost!

On the other hand, like the Burgomaster said,those early 80's 3D movies pretty much sucked. I remember seeing PARASITE in 3D and it gave me a clanging headache and I threw up in the parking lot afterwards!

One of the most effective and well done 3D efects I've seen in a theater was a special rerelease of CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON with the original polarized glasses. The effect was impressive! The underwater scenes looked like a giant cube of water was floating in the theater, right in front of you.

never watched a whole film in 3D. I've tried but it just seems patronising and I feel stupid sat there with 'magic glasses' on. didn't add anything to the films

Ultimately, if a film's 3D effects are an integral part of its raison d'etre, then it obviously isn't a very good film in the first place. the only bad thing is this 'gimmick' (which it is) has now had zillions of dollars injected into it, so the industry has shifted toward a focus on 3D. Movies are clearly now pressured into being 3D...a bad thing IMO

No, but it does hurt my wallet. I have to pay $3.00 to $4.00 more for a single movie ticket to watch a movie in 3-D, then I do, if I watch the movie in 2-D.

We haven't bothered to get a blu-ray yet....my sister bought Thor on DVD for my daughter's 20th birthday.

Yeah, blu-ray is extremely expensive, which is why I rarely ever buy one.  I saw cheap copies of Thor on Blu-ray at certian stores the other day.  Of course they were only 5 or 10 bucks cheaper.

I only buy movies that aren't 3-D because, you then need a bigass TV capable of 3-D, another $700-$2100?! down the drain. Now 3-D in books, those hurts my eyes and gives me a mild headache.

I bought the 3-D blu-ray of MEGAMIND yesterday and it was tremendously impressive.  Possibly the best 3-D blu-ray I've seen so far.
