QuoteHow would you feel if an adult film star read to your seven year old child? Believe it or not, some parents in California are pretty angry that it happened in their kids' classroom.

Porn legend Sasha Grey was a guest reader at Emerson Elementary School in Compton, California earlier this month, joining first and third grade students in their Read Across America day. Grey certainly enjoyed the experience, tweeting, "Spent the am with Read Across America Compton, reading to the sweetest 1st & 3rd grade students @ Emerson Elementary!"

The problem, TMZ reports, is that parents aren't happy -- and that school officials, instead of addressing the issue, are claiming it never happened. Of course, it'd be silly for Grey to tweet about it if it hadn't happened, and more importantly, TMZ has a photo of the event (as they always seem to do).

To be fair to Grey, she is a recently retired porn star, having recently called it quits. She is now a published author, actress in more mainstream flicks (with a part in the Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe and Jeremy Piven film, "I Melt With You"), Peta activist and fan of Occupy Wall Street.

I think Sasha Grey is beautiful.  Absolutely stunning and a suprisingly good actress, too!  Her performances on Entourage were great.
That pic above doesn't do her justice...

She is smokin' hot!

Think like parents, guys.  Do you want to explain to your 6 or 8 year old what a "porn star" does for a living?

Seriously, what MORON in administration thought this would be a good idea??

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with you, although I certainly understand the feeling and reasoning behind it. I'm just amazed that administration staff would ever think "This will not cause any negative attention, maybe a speck, but nothing more." Whatever your personal feelings on it are, are the benefits of Sasha Grey coming to read to elementary students going to outweigh the waves of anger and disgust? Again, I'm not taking anybody's side here, but it just seems really unnecessary.

I AM a parent.

It seems perfectly possible to me that a porn star might advocate literacy. I didn't see anything in the article that said she read them inappropriate material. I didn't see anything that suggested that she was introduced to the class as "former porn star Sasha Grey." So why would there be a need to explain to a 6-year-old what a porn star does for a living?

Honestly, I don't see a fundamental problem with this.

If nothing else, this is publicity for Sasha, which was probably the entire point of the exercise.  I don't find her attractive or appealing in any way but I will admit she is very good at self-promotion.

Well, I think she's kinda hot, but that's beside the point. I'm not saying that parents can't get upset about it if they want to. I just don't see a fundamental issue. To say that it means that the kids will be exposed to pornography or force their parents to explain what a porn star does is to make some pretty big assumptions.

The amusing part of it to me is that she apparently tweeted about it, and there was a TMZ bit about it, causing an uproar. Well, doesn't that mean that a sizeable portion of the parents either heard about it on Twitter or were watching TMZ? What does that say about the parents? TMZ is a pretty filthy show when you get right down to it, which means that they're probably watching it at home. I'm pretty sure that this became a big deal because so many of the parents are well aware who she is. And why are they so familiar? No, I think the parents are simply making a bigger deal out of it than it really is.

Yeah, I sincerely doubt she was introduced to the class as "Hey kids, here's a former porn star to read some stories to you. Ask your parents what a porn star is when you get home tonight." More than likely she was just "Miss Grey," and she just volunteered her time. If she hadn't Tweeted about it, I bet nobody would've even known it happened.
