For my 200th movie review, I went and tackled something that is probably going to get me either more site hits than any other review I've done or more face hits than singles night at the local bar.

I'm tackling religion.

Someone else's religion.

Islamic religion.

Now that I've got your attention, here's my review for The Message.

Nice review.  It sounds like an interesting movie; albeit a pretty idealized picture - but every religion has the right to portray itself as it wishes to be seen, and those of us who are sometimes its critics should watch the portrayal to see the other side of the coin.  I'll try to find this one.

Congrats on #200.  That's certainly an unusual movie for you to cover.  A bit of a challenge to describe the movie and make it somewhat humorous without coming off as mocking, and I think you did a nice job.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Thanks, fellas!  I appreciate it!

And yes, Indy - this is worth finding and watching.  I think you'll like it.

Rev - always makes me feel good to get a shout-out from you; glad you appreciated what I tried to do as far as a perspective goes.

Nice review, GWD.

I saw this on TV here in South Africa about five months ago ~ it was banned here for many years by our previous government's censor board ~ and I found it remarkably entertaining and also an eye-opener.

I also had an email from a SA Islamic organization a few years back in which they wrote that they had heard that there was a motion picture based on the life of the Prophet (PBUH) which was made in Africa and did we have it in the SA Archives. I told them that yes, there was such a film in existence ~ this one ~ and that while we did not have it here, it was freely available to all on DVD.

Then, I got another email saying that they were seriously upset and disturbed by the fact that there was in fact such a film, as if I had anything to do with its' making.
