Am I the only one who thinks that, after years of floating heads (post Scream / I know what...), the (relatively) new trend in movie posters is: bruised/battered/broken women ? It seems to me that almost every poster now contains girls with bloody legs, usually on a white/grey background. Just check Frontiers, Crazy Eights, Rest Stop, Eden Lake, I spit on your grave to name a few. Is it misoginy or just lack of original ideas ?

I think it's partially meant to confuse/trick audiences.  Sort of like in the aftermath of JAWS when dozens of movie posters showed women being menaced by underwater creatures with sharp teeth.  Or in the years following STAR WARS when dozens of movie posters showed ships / robots / characters that reminded you of STAR WARS.  Damn them all!
