As a long time Trekkie / Trekker, I looked forward to seeing this film which starred Rod Roddenberry (the son of the Great Bird himself and Dr Chapel). I think I looked forward to it too much as what I got on the first and subsequent viewings was the story of a young man battling to understand why he had almost zero relationship with his famous parents and millions of others considered them to be friends, not so much the story of one of the greatest TV shows / movie series ever.

I honestly wanted to like this - in fact, I admit to crying when, shortly before his passing,  Gene Roddenberry appeared on stage in a wheelchair and said "I love you" to everyone - but young Roddenberry comes across as whiny, needy and totally clueless about the Star Trek phenomenon.

This was a missed opportunity and what on earth was George Lucas doing in this?
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Long time fan here and this sounds so disappointing.I'd heard of this but never saw it....not even on DVD.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

I believe that everything that George Lucas touches anymore turns into The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978).
First rule is, 'The laws of Germany'
Second rule is, 'Be nice to mommy'
Third rule is, 'Don't talk to commies'
Fourth rule is, 'Eat kosher salamis'

I was actually just wondering why he was in the film and William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy were nowhere to be seen.
