If you are looking for something set in Rome you could always try The Eagle.  The movie depicts a good changing of relationship between two characters one of which is a slave.  Many biblical epics touch on the subject but not deeply and not in more then a glossing over from my experience.  I'm having trouble thinking of some outside of the American South simply as many seem to not touch on the subject deeply or tend to treat them more as an indentured servitude idea that some money is being paid back with labor and has an end in sight.
Ah, the good old days.

This is a most excellent movie about slavery. It looks deeply into the issue and brings a fresh look at the evils of human enslavement.  :teddyr: :tongueout:

it seems to be great... wanna see!

I love every bad horrorotic & WIP movie by Jess Franco.
Movies like Sadomania, 99 Women and Mansion of the Living Dead blends with the theme of slavery in a sick and perverted way.

- The good old Spartacus (1960) with Kirk Douglas
- Race to Freedom: The Underground Railroad (1994)
- A Time to Kill (1996) with Samuel L. Jackson (excellent movie with a great performance by SLJ)
- Mama Flora's Family (1998) with Blair Underwood and Queen Latifah
Though the last two are more about racism.

There are probably more of them, but I just can't remember the titles
" We're going to get you. We're going to get you. Not another peep. Time to go to sleep."

"Do that again and I'm gonna open up a can of whoop-ass on you!"
