I remember a film from when I was little - early 80's or late 70's. (80's I think). At the end of the film there's these 2 shrunken down doll sized people with big foreheads carrying scalpels - one gets trodden on. I've always had the word Mannkins in my head but can't find anything on the net to do with that. I think it's set in a hospital or mental institution.  It's possible as I was young when I sneaked a peek at this film that I misspelled the word Mannequins but I don't think it's the film of that name. If anyone has any idea I'd appreciate it, it's driving me nuts now!!!

I'm starting to think maybe INNERSPACE.  There's a scene towards the end that has something like that.
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

And if it is not "Innerspace," then you might try the British horror anthology film "Asylum" from 1972.

The 4th story is called "Mannikins of Horror" and features 2 mannikins. One of whom gets stepped on, but the 2nd mannikin uses the scalpel it is carrying to stab the head of the asylum Dr. Byron (Herbert Lom) in the back of the neck.

For further i.d. purposes, I remember the 2nd story of the 4 stories in the film featured Peter Cushing as a weird tailor called Mr. Smith in a story called "The Weird Tailor."

I hope all this helps.

Sounds like the episode of "Monsters" entitled "Mannikins of Horror"

BSK got this one. I'm pretty sure it's Asylum (1972)
