I wonder if their going to keep the satirical faux commercials, or if their going try & keep it played straight, & make it all dark & brooding & whatnot...

More love for Clarence Boddicker...

Some of the best scenes in that movie are totally dominated by Clarence.

I've been following  this for quite a while. There will be a lot  time for talk about it, it doesn't  release until Feb 2014

how come no one has noticed the bare right hand it plays a part in the movie.

He also rides a motor cycle, which looks pretty cool . These pictures show off the suit  better than those early pics

I don't care who they hire to write, direct or act in this thing, they will NEVER be able to create the madness of the villain Clarence Boddicker the way Kurtwood Smith did it. Oh man...all time favorite villain list Top 5 for sure.  Maybe even Top 1.

No sir.  This character cannot be remade, no way, no how.

25 years ago, ROBOCOP was successful as a story because it was gritty and dirty...the production itself carried that - it LOOKS a little rough around the edges and that look set the mood in very subtle ways.  This will likely be a spit and polish CGI visual fx fest, quick camera movements and rapid cut edits, a blur of "it must have been something cool but I missed it" tethered to the 'story' via "clever" one-liners.

I won't buy that for a dollar.

EXACTLY.  I love the roughness and dark humor of the original (and let's face it, droid police enforcement aside, it turned out to be a pretty accurate vision of Detroit's future.)  That movie is a whole separate creature in the action genre.  And Boddicker is one of the most iconic villains of all time (I rank him right in between Darth Vader and BREAKING BAD's Gus Fring).

The robocycle, in and of itself, looks cool; but I'm just not seeing any of the "grit" that Robocop needs.

I guess I'm in the camp that would say: "I don't care what it LOOKS like....the chances of them recapturing what made the original great is pretty much near zero."  I will, however, try to keep an open mind and refrain from fully dismissing it until I read some reviews when it's released.

I don't hold much hope, however...

PS: At first blush,  I kinda think putting him on a motorcycle is dumb.

I will definitely not be giving the makers of this film 'a hand' at all.  :tongueout:
