60s-80s sci-fi horror about alien signal that made people see swarming insects

As I remember those bugs had extraterrestrial origin even tho they looked like regular bugs.
At the beginning the equipment recorded a signal coming from space, and each time some device caught this signal it was levitating. Also when a person heard/was affected by it they started seeing visions of swarming either ants or bees. Some time later people found these "honeycombs" behind the wall and realised that the signal was coming from them or that they have already invaded the planet.
At the end of the film, the main character on a construction crane demolishes a huge image of the insect hanged over the city but dies himself.
