A good film, directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring himself and his then wife Emma Thompson as people who were lovers in a past life until one of them is horribly murdered with the other sentenced to death for a crime they did not commit.

I watched it again last night - my VHS is in dire need of replacing - and was pleasantly surprised that it still holds up. With Sir Derek Jacobi as an antiques dealer (who finally gets the point  :buggedout:) and a surprising cameo by Robin Williams as the psychologist Dr 'Cosey' Carlyle (his first line in the film is "[Expletive deleted]  you, I'm on a break.") it is a truly great film.

It should have been released in black and white though: a great film noir.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.
