Postmodern Jukebox is a group I found on youtube.  They seem to just cover modern songs, but do it in time periods.  Example:

Covering Miley Cyrus's "We Can't Stop" and it's an amazing '50s style song.

I think so.  It's a different take on doing covers.  They've got a few different eras.

One had a Motown take on Nickelback.

16 year old singer Lorde has a song called Royals that's a big hit.  I like it quite a bit.
