Evil doll/statue, magic circle

Hi,

I remember a film from my childhood that I would love to see again. Unfortunately all I really remember is a scene where a mother drags her son into a magic circle she has drawn on the floor to stop the influence of an evil doll or statue. I know she finds the circle in a book and realises at some point earlier that her son is becoming possessed. There may be a vineyard in it somewhere.
Any ideas? It's been bugging me for years.
