Personally I never use it for anything other than promotion and occasionally checking up for updates on actors, programmes, etc. Always end up hitting the character limit, I don't think the concept of micro blogging is for me - I'd rather use forum systems which have been working well for 20+ years

Twitter works well for pushing information, like news, sports team updates (I coach 2 soccer teams), or website updates. We also use it for trail condition updates for our local mountain biking trails.
