This one will most likely only appeal to fans of Director Tim Ritter, or people with a fetish for private super-8mm home movies. Day of the Reaper is about five young women on vacation in Florida, stalked by a hooded cannibal killer.
The super-8 footage makes for an energy draining viewing experience. Its amateur backyard 'filmmaking' at its most tedious (dubbed voices). I don't even think this one counts as a real film. If you hated the quality of those shot on vhs video movies of the 1980s, you'll have a field day with DOTR because, well, super-8mm looks definitely worse than vhs video in my opinion.
Surprisingly (or not) this got a limited to 100 copies (!) special edition BD-ROM (!!) release ($30) that is already sold out.

I guess ever since Elijah Wood named Tim Ritter as one of his favorite directors it became a hip thing to like (in this case) "crap."

For the curious ones, Day of the Reaper is on YouTube for your viewing pleasures.

Forgot to add: those expecting a forgotten cheesy 1980s slasher gem will be disappointed  :tongueout:

Trevor

However bad that may be, it can't be worse than Tim Ritter's other classic: Dirty Cop, No Donut:buggedout: :buggedout:

We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Besides DOTR I've only seen everyone's favorite Tim Ritter film Truth or Dare?: A Critical Madness (1986)  :bluesad:
