Okay, some background, for reasons I don't care to get into right now, I've been pretty "away" from most online stuff for about four years, so recently my house got a wireless hook and it's pretty awesome, but one thing I've noticed as I've been eagerly diving back into the web fields is that some of the sites I used to enjoy going to... well, kind of suck now.  Even with my new fast connection, they're slow, and seem to have been taken over by things that open up ad movies and extra windows and all kinds of needless flashy crap I don't really care that grind everything down to a halt.  I mean, I get it, websites cost money and they need to off-set said cost somehow but, good, what ever happened to just have banners to click on and stuff?

And don't get me start on all those sites that have lists on them and, at the end of one entry, you'll see an arrow pointing and you click on it, thinking it's the next piece of the article, only to find you've been tricked into yet another ad!

I don't know, maybe I've been gone too long...

Luckily THIS site is still pretty cool.

It's not just you.
I just downgraded my cable & internet package, because I realized; It's not my internet speed, it's the internet... And this 7 year old laptop...

I think I remember who you are, but so much has changed, including participants at this forum.  I am glad to see you back... BTM...?
All forums seem to be dying or evolving to me.  This site is still "pretty cool" because of Rev. Powell and a lack of change in format.  I myself dislike change, so I'm still here.
I think format changes with regard to delivery of content is endemic and has to do with the hand-held device.  One must adapt or die in such environs.

Yep, that's me!  I did a "Hey guys, I'm back" thread a few weeks ago.  I'm surprised you missed it due to the wild and overwhelming response it got.  :)

I hate to admit it though, but in all the time I've been gone some of the details of the people here have gotten mixed up... I can remember certain people who like to talk about this and that, and did such and such for a living, but not quite sure WHO those people were... Guess I'll have to just re-acquaint myself
with everyone over time.

I guess that's part of it... can't help but wonder if another is the invasion of intrusive ads.
