Crap at work.

I love my job and have done for many years but yesterday (Thursday) was a very hard day. I actually felt like quitting. 

Uh.. I'm sorry Trevor, refresh my memory, do you still work as an archivist?  Cause I could have SWORN I read a post from you like er.. wait.. four years or so ago, saying you were retiring from that job to pursue something else.  Granted, I could be mistaken, or you could have changed your mind or gone back to your own line of your in the intervening years but still.. just trying to figure that out.

Also, sorry to hear about your bad day. 

I did go through a bad period several years ago - 2010 to be exact - but I remained here because of my mom and am still here. I had a extraordinarily bad day here a few days back when I was taken to task about assisting a client and had actually done everything right and by the book, so that's a day I'm not keen to repeat.

...................tonight I had to wait for 20 minutes literally killing time talking to someone after all my stuff I had to get done before I leave was completed for my a manager to "check me out" before I could leave and didn't leave until after 11

Bob, I wish you the best of luck!  Normally, I'd advise lining up a new job before you try to quit the old one, but I dunno what things are like job-wise in your area or what you're going through at your current job.  Either way, I hope you find a new one that you enjoy (and maybe even pays better) soon!

the plan for me it to go back to college to get certified to be a teacher, I've been thinking about doing this for months now 

I know I need money, the economy isn't the best where I live but I know I can find something -- I have  2 degrees and I have some real world experience

Biggest problem I`ve noticed is they tend to put idiots in positions of power...that seems more and more common these days...
