Interesting read.

You, Lewis, however, are an historian.  You can judge objectively.  Sadly, we live in emotional times that are both self righteous and self absorbed and hence the appeal of an emotional person like Trump.

Having felt the victim, yet also a survivor, I know shame and now admire those of us who can walk the high road.  We all slip, but most of us know right from wrong.  God alone can see and understand all.  I believe in love, hence, Christian charity.  Jesus said to turn the other cheek.

One side wanted to keep the monuments up. The other wanted them down. I'd say just put them in the Confederate museum. I like to call it a compromise, sadly I might be the minority in using compromises for both sides.

I think the best and appropriate  solution is to place them in a museum. As divisive and negative as it is percieved, it is still history. All history should be remembered and preserved, lest we repeat it. However, there are alot of people that do not see it that way. No matter what is done, there will be a group of people outraged and there will be a reaction. Crazy times were living in.
