Spidey's dirty secret.

I know present to you one of the funniest things I have ever seen: I accidentally stumbled into a Big Brothers/Big Sisters office once. I realized my mistake and began to leave when I noticed a pile of Spider-Man comic books. I grabbed one and upon examining it I found it was published expressly for the BB/BS by Marvel, and it was meant to educate children in the program about child molestation. In the story Spidey is crawling down a building and hears a boy crying so he goes into the window and investigates. Young Tony tells Ol' Webhead that his babysitter wanted him to take his clothes off or she wouldn't let him see Star Wars on TV. It's odd that he declined as his babysitter was a total babe. To make the boy feel better Spidey tells him a story: Seems when he was Peter Parker, before he was bitten by the radioactive spider, he was at a friend's house. This friend showed Peter some dirty magazines and then suggested that they touch each other like the people in the skin rags. That's right: Spider-Man was molested as a boy. It was a double-issue, paired with a story about a super team called the Power Squad, and they help a girl whose dad touched her inappropriately. Chld molestation isn't funny on its own, but throw in our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and you have yourself a laugh riot.

I remember that!  I actually had a copy in my comic collection as a kid....wonder what I did with it?

My question did Spidey throw the babysitter's ass in jail, where it surely belongs.  By the time taking your clothes off at a woman's request does something for you then you are far too old for a babysitter (unless its one of those weird, kinky play acting deals).  As a parent it scares the s**t out of me that some freak would do that to my kid (who is turning eight this July).

The whole Spidey's dark little secret thing?  Well to someone that has had something disturbing and very f**ked up happen to them, it's reassuring that someone else (albeit even a fictional character) has gone through the same thing and knows how confused, scared, and dirty they feel inside.  But I'm sure to someone fortune enough to not have gone through something that can (and will) scar you for life it would seem kind of funny.  Kind of like Cat Juggling.

Not to belittle the subject of child molesting, but back when I was 11-12, my parents still weren't comfortable with leaving me alone, so they hired the daughter of a friend to look after me. She was 16 or 17, and *VERY* attractive. I had a huge crush on her, and even though I didn't know much about sex, I knew I'd liked to have been doing SOMETHING with her. It never happened though. Looking back on it, I don't think it would have scarred me for life if she had wanted to see me naked. I do remember the times my parents hadn't come home by the time I went to bed, it feeling a little strange to be alone with her in my pyjamas, but in kind of an appealing way. Of course I've always been a little bit warped... :)
