PSA: NEVER Use Photobucket!

So I was looking at old posts until I found this.



I'm not going to say who posted it but I really wish I could see the intended images.
I see this all the time. People host images on Photobucket and this error occurs.

I use imgur. You just drag the image to the front page and it uploads immediately. Then you just right click on the image, hit open image in new tab, there. You're done.
Not to mention the images last forever. I've only ever seen imgur pics vanish when they violate guidelines.

If you don't want to use imgur, that's fine. But for the love of all things good NEVER EVER use Photobucket!

Photobucket changed the status of free accounts sometime last year, and in the process, destroyed all links to images posted from their site.  My understanding is that any images uploaded there are still there, but any user must PAY to access a usable URL.   I probably have several dozen images there, including images posted to this website.  All historical postings using photogetmeabucket are destroyed and would require visitng every old posting in order to correct the errors you mention.  They may eat sh!t.

I've been using Lunapic for about a year and a half. There's no signing in, it's free and it's FAST!
You can also crop,rotate,tint, make borders, etc...!
It's great. I use it for my Tumblr account.
Invaluable!

Depending on which browser you use, there may be an add on to make those pictures viewable.  I know there were a few for Firefox.  At least one still worked the last time I checked.  There are a few other workarounds that Google should bring up.

I had used Photobucket for YEARS; now all my hosted pics are unviewable.
What a load of crap!

You might want to check out Imgur, so far it's free to use.

I removed all my stuff from Photobucket before they deicded to screw over their users

If that changed it would screw over reddit. 90% of images on reddit use imgur. If you upload an image to reddit directly they just put it on imgur automatically.

Be careful of whatever service you choose, and read the terms.

Some services, like facebook, YouTube, or Google, require users to give them unlimited rights to host pictures or videos. Flickr doesn't require an unlimited license for images or videos, but requires one for text. DailyMotion, I think, will host videos without an unlimited license. Don't take my word for this tho. Read the Terms.

Yeah I stopped using Photobucket for stuff a while ago and use imgur now.

Even if they stopped what they were doing tomorrow and let people see images again I still would not use them again.
