The best movies of 2018

I watched ISLE OF DOGS over xmas with my family, on a big screen. the animation was fantastic, and probably worth watching again just for that reason. however I thought the general tone of the film, story arc, and characterisation of the dogs was done in a way that was too low-key for me to really engage with it. I like subtlety and deadpan, but this was something else that almost came off as arrogance?

the only other new release I saw was HALLOWEEN. so those are my top 2, by default!
