The surge demo taught me something.

I was playing the demo of the surge for pc and I learned something.

You start as a guy in a wheelchair and have to move around in it and find access points you can use.

Yeah, play that a few minutes and you'll never resent handicapped only parking or ramps again. Seriously, I felt what nit was like to have to find the door or the ramp I could use.

Maybe games can teach you about other people's  issues. I wonder what a game where you're  deaf and have to maneuver around without getting ran over or something would be like, probably make you more sympathetic to deaf people.

It also taught  me something else. It had a quote that said "Society is at its  best when old men plant trees they know they will never sit in the shade of. "

In other words societies are at their best when people do things for the future and not themselves.

Yeah, I think we may be forgetting that in america. I mean we have a pustulent ombodiement of greed,  selfishness and personal indulgence insulating a round the white house. Plus this whole "libertarian" thing is on the rise. Honestly, who can really believe that the problem with america is that the average  american isn't selfish enough?

We need people in america willing to do things  for others,  for the future and other "socialist" stuff.

A society based on 'I got mine" doesn't last long.

We need fewer whiners, more self-reliance, less guilt, more pride. The best way to help society is to pull your own weight, then you are in a position to do more for others.

I do salute your espousal of Christian virtues up there.

Not christian values, just ones acknowledging the reality that humans are social creatures who need a society to survive.

If I were espousing christian values I'd have to espouse slavery, the treatment of women like property,  etc.... I don't support those things.

Under the old testament a man could simply rape you, rendering you  unfit for another man since you would ng be a virgin on your wedding night, then pay your father a dowry for damaging his property, and you would then be forced to "marry" him.
