After seeing this and posting it to the exorcist thread...

I remembered another actor in a movie who became a murderer later.

I'm sure there are lots more. Any fasvcorites?

I know this is the other way round, but there's definitely an actor who killed someone (shot a guy iirc...), served time in jail, and then became an actor.

can't think who it is? ...70s era I believe...and quite a well known actor I think

Not a movie actor, but Skylar Julius Deleon was a child actor doing mostly TV commercials, and appeared in an episode of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series.

At the age of 25 he bound and gagged an elderly couple and threw them overboard, tied to the yacht's anchor.

I almost mentioned him!  What a piece of xxxx. And he did it for a sex change. Icm against the death penalty usually but what he did was heinous enough to give me a real hard time.

The British actor Leslie Grantham did this, I believe.

thanks, that was driving me nuts. I was convinced it was a US actor for some reason, but that's definitely who I was thinking of. His character in Eastenders was 'Dirty Den'

edit- apparently he starred in this movie which I have never heard of till now

Bobby Beausoleil, from the Manson family, had a few small roles in experimental and exploitation films before he killed Gary Hinman. (Rather gruesomely).

He later recorded the soundtrack to LUCIFER RISING on death row, which I imagine is the only movie soundtrack ever composed and recorded in prison.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Harold Switzer. Who after killing a customer in a dispute, then killed himself. Older brother of Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer, who himself was a victim of violence, when he was shot and killed in a dispute that was later judged to be an act of self-defense.

Robert Blake seems like one.  But he wasn't convicted.  But the accusations were after his acting.

Gig Young was an Oscar winner.  He committed a murder suicide, shooting his wife then himself.

Christian Brando, Marlon's son, killed the boyfriend of his sister.  The sister had the dead man's child, and later on hanged herself.  Just a terrible story.

Michael Jace, who is in numerous films and The Shield, shot and killed his wife.

It's also quite possible to find ones who committed a murder BEFORE acting.

Don King has been in a few movies.  He killed two people, the first ruled a justifiable homicide, the second sent him to prison.

Felicia Pearson was on the Wire and is in a few movies, she murdered someone while a teenager and served 6 years.

Charles Dutton killed a man in a fight and served 7 years.

I was gonna bring that up, but you beat me to it.
Bobby and Gypsy (Catherine Share) were also in the RAMRODDER (1969)!

ER

Didn't get much as press in the US but in Northern Ireland, Matthew Broderick infamously killed a woman and her daughter in a car wreck in 1987. I like Broderick, and this was an accident and not deliberate murder, but he was clearly at fault and hit the other vehicle head-on after crossing into the opposite lane while distracted. Irish roads are insanely dangerous in the best of times, even for those used to them. (They scare me!)
What does not kill me makes me stranger.
