Spookies does not get the respect it deserves as a Halloween classic.

Sure it comes up short in some aspects.  The plot is weak to nonexistant at times and the actors aren't great, but what it does, it does very well.

And what it does is be Spooky.  This is the movie equivalent of those tapes that just play creepy Halloweem background music and sound effects for hours.  Except this is a movie.

The creepy background music never lets up and the lighting makes it feel like almost every frame should be somebody's Halloween desktop.  Then there's the monsters.  There are mosnters all over the places.  Zombies, the grim reaper, a spider-thing, possessed people, some kind of demon hag, an undead warlock, farting muck monsters and more.  Every few minutes it feels like they bring in something new.

The movie doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's fun.

Here's a video about it by James Rolfe, it contains some spoilers but it has neat information and footage. Have in mind, the video was made in 2016 so it has outdated info. According to Wikipedia:

"In 2017, the film was released on DVD by French company Intercontinental Film and Video under the title Les Spookie. Despite its French title, the audio language is English and the disc claims to be sourced from a new HD interpositive 2K scan. This DVD is playable in regions 1, 2 and 5."

The name of the movie didn't ring a bell, but the farting muck monsters did!  I call them farting basement zombies, but I think either fits.  You're totally right that this is a really fun background movie.  The name of the movie has nothing to do with anything that's going on as far as I can remember though.
